MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – An exchange of experience between countries is vital for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at the meeting with UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed on 21 February, BelTA has learned.
According to the minister, the activity of the United Nations Organization is a key to the successful achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. “The exchange of experience between states is important,” he said.
The minister added that all the countries are very different, with their national development features, and these factors must be taken into account on the way to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Very soon Geneva will host a conference to discuss the issues.
Vladimir Makei expressed confidence that the regional forum of national SDG coordinators from Europe and Central Asia, which is due to take place in Minsk on 21-22 February, would give a new impetus to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. He expressed hope for constructive interaction during the event.
In turn, Amina Mohammed commended Belarus’ achievements in the area. She expressed confidence that the upcoming meeting in the Belarusian capital would help find answers to the present-day major challenges during the discussion and exchange of experience.
