Belarus eager to work with Kazakhstan in digital economy sphere

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in effective cooperation with Kazakhstan in matters of the digital transformation of the economy, BelTA learned from First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky during the Belarusian-Kazakhstani business forum on 29 November.

The official said: “Belarus is interested in effectively working with Kazakhstan in information technologies, in the digital transformation of conventional economy branches and in creating a new economy as part of modern digitalization.”

In his words, Belarus also intends to advance manufacturing cooperation with Kazakhstan, develop cooperation in agribusiness, transportation and logistics, road construction, oil and gas industry, mining industry. “Moreover, we are not just talking about transport logistics but about the creation of two digital transit corridors. We’ve been talking about it for quite some time. We will move on to practical implementation now,” stressed First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vasily Matyushevsky.

“Today the heads of state concluded that our bilateral relations should advance to a brand new level. That level of strategic partnership has produced certain results but the potential of our bilateral relations can give so much more,” said Vasily Matyushevsky. He remarked that Belarus counts on the arrival of major Kazakh capital in the economy.

The Belarusian-Kazakhstani economic forum gathered about 400 participants in Minsk. The event was held at the same time Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev met for negotiations. The president of Kazakhstan is in Belarus on an official visit on 29-30 November. Since 29 November has been full of negotiations and 30 November’s agenda is tightly packed, the presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan instructed the first vice premiers of the two countries — Vasily Matyushevsky and Askar Mamin — to take part in the business forum and finish it.
