MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ development program developed for the Belarusian People's Congress is very ambitious, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told journalists today, BelTA has learned.
"Setting a bar low means looking forward to a low result, especially in light of possible challenges which can emerge out of the blue,” Roman Golovchenko said.
According to him, if the country faces new challenges, the government will adjust its tactical approaches. "But so far the program is based on maximum ambitions. The country should make a breakthrough in development," the prime minister stressed.
He noted that over the past five years the country has failed to achieve all the targets, and this has been largely influenced by external factors that were difficult to overrun. “But can we guess what can happen in a year or two... We have options for different situations. Therefore, if the situation is very difficult we will turn to reserve options. So far, we are setting the most ambitious tasks,” Roman Golovchenko noted.
