MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – Belarus’ CEI presidency has been a success, CEI Deputy Secretary General Erik Csernovitz told the media on 30 May, BelTA has learned.
“Today we can proudly say that Belarus’ CEI presidency has been a great success. On behalf of the CEI Secretary General I would like to express my hope for another Belarus’ CEI presidency in the nearest future,” Erik Csernovitz remarked.
Belarus is holding its first ever CEI presidency in 2017. Belarus’ presidency is aimed at promoting connectivity in a wider Europe. The country seeks to bolster and expand ties and cooperation between the CEI states and different integration organizations, including the Eurasian Economic Union, the EU, the CEI, and other organizations.
Minsk played host to a session of the CEI Parliamentary Committee on 30 May. Partaking in the session were Belarusian MPs and heads of some Belarusian ministries along with the parliamentary delegations of Austria, Slovenia, Romania, Poland, Moldova, Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, and Ukraine.
Today the CEI comprises 18 states.
