MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – We are planning to take a decision on the next election campaign in the autumn, Chairperson of Belarus’ Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina told the media on 23 February, BelTA has learned.
Lidia Yermoshina noted that she does not know yet what the next election campaign in Belarus will be. The decision will be taken by the bodies authorized to call the elections. The Central Election Commission is ready to hold any election campaign. “I think the head of state will hold a meeting on this issue in the autumn and work out which campaign to hold first,” she said.
According to the CEC head, the next election campaign has not been discussed yet. “It is too early to talk about this,” she said.
According to the national calendar of elections and referendums, the presidential election scheduled for 2020 should be held before 20 August, the elections to the House of Representatives before 10 September, and the elections of the Council of the Republic before 11 September. Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina stated that the presidential and parliamentary elections slated for 2020 will not be held within one year, and suggested holding any of the campaigns in November 2019.
