MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – There is an urgent need to remove political, economic, social, religious and cultural barriers for sustainable development of countries and nations, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said speaking at the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in Baku, Azerbaijan, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Council of the Republic.
Mikhail Myasnikovich, who led the Belarusian delegation at the forum, emphasized in his speech the vital importance of the strict observance of the basic principles of the international law such as non-interference with the domestic affairs of sovereign states, peaceful settlement of disputes and pretensions in the spirit of tolerance and the dialogue based on mutual respect. The Speaker of the Council of the Republic took note of a considerable role of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko not only in the settlement of the conflict around Ukraine but also in strengthening regional and European security in general.
The head of the Belarusian delegation underlined that the UNAOC platform should be free from any attempts to advance personal goals, as well as politicized confrontational actions and statements.
The 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations is running amid the exacerbating international situation, increasing concerns of the world community due to continuous numerous local conflicts and migration crises. The majority of delegates spoke in favor of reaching stable peace and sustainable development of all the countries and nations.
The Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations is running in Baku from 25 to 27 April. The youth forum took place on the first day of the Global Forum. The participants of the high-level forum adopted the Baku Declaration.
