Belarus’, Azerbaijan’s accomplishments as independent countries praised

BAKU, 28 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Azerbaijan have accomplished a lot in the 25 years of their independence. Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev made the statement for mass media during the visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Azerbaijan on 28 November, BelTA has learned.

Ilham Aliyev congratulated Belarus on the privilege of hosting the Second European Games in 2019. “It is symbolical that the games will take place in one of the most successful countries of the former USSR. I think the fact recognizes the accomplishments of our countries. As independent states our countries are young — only 25 years of age. In these years we have reached the highest standards and can host events of any level,” stated the Azerbaijan President. “I am convinced that the second games will be at least as good as the first ones. Because the experience, the organizational work of yours and the desire to organize such events allow me to say that these games will be unique. You will demonstrate not only the soul of the Belarusian nation but also the strength of today’s Belarus. You will demonstrate to entire Europe that Belarus is a powerful, independent and worthy state.”

The Azerbaijan President also mentioned Alexander Lukashenko’s special role in building the modern, dynamic, and self-sufficient country of Belarus. “I advise all the Azerbaijan citizens to go and see the kind soul of the Belarusian nation, the beautiful city of Minsk, which is nowadays one of the best European capital cities as far as architecture, cleanliness, and infrastructure are concerned,” said Ilham Aliyev.
