Azerbaijan Ambassador against destroying WWII monuments

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – It is inadmissible that monuments to the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War are destroyed in the 21st century, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Russia, Chairman of the Board of the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation Polad Bulbuloglu said at the international forum Great Victory Through Unity on 28 April, BelTA has learned.

“Some countries attempt to distort the truth about the Victory. They destroy monuments to the soldiers who died in the war. Azerbaijan is against it. We should respect the history,. It is inadmissible that monuments are destroyed today, in the 21st century,” the diplomat said.

The international forum Great Victory Through Unity is taking place in Minsk from 27 to 29 April. The forum gave start to a new stage of the BRSM Youth Union nationwide patriotic project Flowers of Great Victory.

Among the events are themed interactive platforms, a presentation of the Brest Military and Patriotic Club Garrison, with a demonstration of photo albums from searching operations, weapon dummies and other artifacts, and also the photo exhibition Moments of Victory.

The project will be held throughout the country until 3 July. One of the major events will be an open air Flowers of Great Victory. Its interactive exposition will take place on Oktyabrskaya Square in Minsk on 8 May. The event will include presentations from every oblast and Minsk, theater shows, mobile museum expositions, exhibitions of reconstructed military hardware, vintage cars.
