MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – Trostenets is important as a place of European memory, Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen said during a meeting with Belarusian head of state Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk on 29 june, BelTA has learned.
“We, in Austria, are very surprised at how this place of memory has dropped out of the European policy of memory. The importance pf this place is very great and cannot be underestimated. The Austrian government attaches special importance to the perpetuation of the memory of the Austrian Jews killed in Trostenets during the Second World War,” the Austrian leader said.
Alexander van der Bellen thanked Alexander Lukashenko for the warm reception during his visit to Minsk.
