MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – The organization of the Pope’s visit to Belarus is my number one goal, Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus Gabor Pinter told media before he presented the credentials to the President of Belarus on 13 December.

“It is the number one priority for me. We will work on the organization of the Pope’s visit to Belarus. For now I can say nothing regarding the date or the program of the visit,” noted Gabor Pinter. He stressed that he is highly optimistic about the prospects of developing relations between the Vatican and Belarus.

The new Apostolic Nuncio has been in Belarus for nearly four months already. He said that he has already got familiar with many Belarusians. “Belarusians are a peaceful nation. This is the nation that wants to live in peace with all the countries, including its neighbors,” the Vatican representative stressed. In his words, these goals are in sync with the main tasks of the Vatican.

The Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus also hailed the level of cooperation between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches in the country.
