MOGILEV, 21 May (BelTA) – Belarus is an example of positive interaction between people of different religious traditions, Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus, Archbishop Gabor Pinter said as he met with Mogilev Oblast Governor Leonid Zayats on 21 May, BelTA has learned.
According to Gabor Pinter, the Catholic Church just like the Belarusian state views everyone as a personality and tries to support people in their spiritual walk. Different religious denominations peacefully co-exist in Belarus. They see eye to eye with local authorities and help them address various issues. “In this regard Belarus can be an example for many other countries. A testimony to that is an important artistic project – the Magutny Bozha international church music festival that is taking place in the oblast capital these days. The festival in Mogilev brings together representatives of different religions,” the Apostolic Nuncio said.
Gabor Pinter emphasized that the Catholic Church goes along with local authorities. The parties maintain a constructive and efficient dialogue across all the issues.
The parties discussed a possibility to invite foreign priests for work at local catholic churches, investment in the repair and restoration of these churches, and a possibility to transfer the Co-Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin and St. Stanislaus in Mogilev and the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary in Bobruisk into ownership of the Catholic Church.
