MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) - Belarus has consistently spoken in favor of strengthening of security in the region and is ready for partnership in various formats, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said when speaking at the plenary session of the first Conference of Eurasian Parliament Speakers which is running in Moscow, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
Vladimir Andreichenko drew attention to the increasing tensions in the world, the growth of the number of regional conflicts that constantly mutate. Among them is the situation in Donbass, the problem of IS, the conflict in Syria, destabilization in Afghanistan, flow of migrants to Europe, terrorist attacks in the capitals of several countries. “We see the lack of ability of the international community to take prompt effective steps to resolve conflicts. Often instead of dialogue we see the desire of some world leaders to solve the problem proceeding only from their interests and ambitions. This approach results in the policy based on the principle ‘who is not with us is against us’,” the Speaker said.
He noted with regret that the integration processes in the world are still very controversial and the interaction between different models of integrations is often replaced by competition between then. “In this regard, it is difficult not to agree with Sergei Naryshkin who, when speaking at a meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly in Yerevan, said that in the modern conditions counteracting international terrorism, illegal migration, drug trafficking, organized crime involves broad cooperation of the CSTO with other international and regional organizations. Belarus, who has consistently advocated the strengthening of security in the region and the world and who has been doing all it can, is ready for partnership in a variety of formats in this field,” Vladimir Andreichenko noted. He also noted that he means the CSTO and the OSCE, where Belarus is a full-fledged and responsible member, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) where the country has an observer status.
