Ananich: Seminars for young writers are an opportunity to learn from accomplished colleagues

Ananich: Seminars for young writers are an opportunity to learn from accomplished colleaguesMINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Seminars for young poets and writers are an opportunity to learn from acclaimed and accomplished men of letters, Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich said at the opening of the second international literature symposium Writer and Time: Continuity in Literature, BelTA has learned.

Lilia Ananich believes that it is important for young poets and writers to have such an opportunity to attend seminars held as part of the symposium, talk face-to-face with their accomplished colleagues, learn from them, and, probably most importantly, to absorb their lived experience. “Lived experience is the criterion for the profound ideas that every writer puts into his or her work,” the minister noted.

She also called for maintaining the tradition of reading. The minister believes it is important to learn to suppress the desire to browse through the Internet in search for interesting yet trivial and superficial information.

The Belarusian book publishing industry receives considerable support. “To make the world a more understandable place, we believe it is important to support book printing and such projects that I hope will be regularly organized in our country,” Lilia Ananich pointed out.

The minister expressed hope that the web portal Sozvuchiye will be further developed and become known to people other than those who write articles for it. “We want the portal to become a platform with a diversity of voices and ideas that will strengthen international friendship and promote moral values,” Lilia Ananich added.
