MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – Belarus is destined to play a historical role, Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich told reporters at the 22^nd Minsk International Book Fair on 12 February, BelTA has learned.

“These days our country hosts global geopolitical events. Belarus has turned into the center of the world, the center of reconciliation. Foreign writers say that Belarus is destined to play a historical role. It is not only the God-given destiny. Some time ago the Belarusian people determined the development priorities of the country, elected Alexander Lukashenko the President,” Lilia Ananich said. She also added that thanks to the wise policy which has been implemented in the country for the entire period of development of the Belarusian state, Belarus managed to become this platform of peace.

“Many people tried to brand us as outcasts in the previous years; the international community did not always listen to us, but we always had our own opinion about politics, economy, and culture. We did not squander anything. We have preserved everything we could. We are doing our best to preserve our legacy,” Lilia Ananich stressed.
