MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – Turkey will be glad to receive Belarus’ highest-level delegation, Turkey’s Ambassador to Belarus Kezban Nilvana Darama told reporters on 24 October, BelTA has learned.
“The president of the Republic of Turkey invites the president of the Republic of Belarus to visit the country in the forthcoming months. We will be glad to see Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko in our country,” the diplomat noted.
She noted that the specific date of the visit depends on the schedules of the heads of state. “Turkey might as well send high-level delegations to Belarus this year,” the diplomat noted.
Kezban Nilvana Darama recalled the visit of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Belarus in 2016. She noted that the visit helped invigorate the bilateral relations. In her words, growth was posted by trade and investment. In fact, in H1 2018, the bilateral trade rose by 14%. “We have nearly fulfilled the objective set by the heads of state in 2016 to reach $1 billion in the bilateral trade,” the diplomat noted.
During his visit to Belarus in 2016 Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that the two countries could raise the bilateral trade up to $1 billion.
In September 2018, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim welcomed growth in the bilateral trade and said it might reach $1 billion by the end of the year.
