MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – A visit of Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro to Belarus is of great significance for the South American country, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela to Belarus Jose Boggiano Pericchi told the media, BelTA has learned.
“This visit is of great importance for us, and we hope that it will be another testimony to mutual support and that Belarus and Venezuela are going one road and are aiming at building a better world,” said Jose Boggiano Pericchi. He added that the meeting between Nicolas Maduro and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko would help convey accurate and truthful information about the events in Venezuela to the Belarusian authorities.
According to the diplomat, the two countries have been developing relations of strategic partnership, and this is especially evident at the political level. “We have similar positions on the world agenda. Belarus supports Venezuela in the international arena, at the political level,” the ambassador said.
He also noted that Belarus assists the economic development of Venezuela, helps the country develop its industrial and construction sectors.
Apart from the forthcoming talks with the Belarusian president, Nicolas Maduro is also set to attend a ceremony to unveil a monument to Simon Bolivar, the national hero of Venezuela, in Minsk. “It is a very symbolic event, which demonstrates good feelings of the Belarusian people to this figure. This is very important for us,” Jose Boggiano Pericchi said.
