MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – China welcomes progress in cooperation with Belarus and is ready to keep working to implement important agreements at the highest level, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming told BelTA.

The diplomat noted that Belarus and China have established good bilateral contacts that will grow stronger despite any obstacles. “Over the recent years the bilateral cooperation has reached its heyday due to personal efforts of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Our countries exchange high-level delegations. In 2019 Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping met twice and reached a number of agreements, including on the joint development of the Belt and Road project. China is determined to keep working to implement these agreements,” he said.

Cui Qiming reviewed progress in the construction of the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone. Last year the park hosted the Belt & Road Forum for Regional Cooperation and Development.

The head of the Chinese diplomatic mission also noted that the second stage of the project to build social housing in Belarus by the Chinese side was successfully completed in 2019. A total of 1,854 apartments in 22 houses were commissioned.

“The projects to build a national football stadium and a world-class swimming pool in Belarus with the help of China are making good progress,” Cui Qiming said.

Last year the parties held the Year of Belarusian Education in China, which attests to flourishing contacts in this field, the ambassador added.

Cui Qiming emphasized that interregional cooperation is also on the rise. “All the six regions and the city of Minsk have established friendly relations with many provinces and cities of China,” the ambassador said.
