MOSCOW, 24 May (BelTA) – Belarus is ready for mutually beneficial cooperation with Russia’s Moscow Oblast in all the areas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko said at the meeting with Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Vorobyov as part of the 22nd St Petersburg International Economic Forum on 24 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the embassy.
Praising the growing mutual trade in 2017, the ambassador noted that in the first quarter of 2018 the trade between Belarus and Moscow Oblast continued its active growth and reached $1.3 billion, up 18% from the same period in 2017.
Moscow Oblast is among biggest importers of Belarusian goods. The region has a well-developed commodity distribution network of Belarusian enterprises. In trade terms Belarus is one of the largest trading partners of Moscow Oblast, Andrei Vorobyov said.
“The parties discussed the organization of activities within the framework of the working group on development and coordination of cooperation between Belarus and Moscow Oblast,” the embassy said.
Igor Petrishenko emphasized the importance of further development of industrial and agricultural cooperation and the provision of Moscow Oblast enterprises, farms, and trade networks with high-quality Belarusian machinery, equipment, goods and products.
He also invited Andrei Vorobyov to take part in the 5th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev in autumn 2018, and representatives of agricultural organizations of the oblast to the Belarusian agro-industrial week Belagro 2018 in Minsk (5-10 June). The diplomat also suggested visiting Belarusian enterprises producing agricultural machinery, meat and dairy products during the Belagro week.
“The ambassador also discussed the participation of representatives of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture in international exhibitions Belagro, Belferma, Belprodukt, Food Industry, Prodmash. Kholod. Upak, which will take place in Minsk in June, with Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yevgeny Gromyko,” the embassy added.
