MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – The cooperation between Belarus and China is based on the principles of sustainable development, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming told the media on 19 December, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat stressed that “Belarus and China have a common goal which is the sustainable development of the two countries and the entire human family.” The cooperation between the two countries is based on this. Cui Qiming expressed confidence that such cooperation would be continued.
The Belarusian-Chinese relations have been vibrant and sustainable in all the sectors. The countries have been jointly implementing an ambitious project to develop the Silk Road Economic Belt. In 2016, following the official talks in Beijing, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a joint declaration between Belarus and China on establishing the relations of trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Ambassador Cui Qiming is taking part in the open hearings in Belarus’ parliament to discuss the partnership between the branches of power as a prerequisite for the successful achievement of the SDGs. The key item on the agenda was the implementation of the SDGs in the economic, environmental and social areas of Belarus, including through public-private partnership mechanisms. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted on 25 September 2015. It includes 17 goals aimed at eliminating poverty, inequality and injustice, and also addressing climate change.
