MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – The international exhibition Art Capital: From France to Belarus will bring the cultures of the two countries closer to each other, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko said at the opening of the exhibition at the National Center of Contemporary Arts on 1 December.
Pavel Latushko stressed that Belarus and France enjoy centuries-long cultural ties. The exhibition is an outstanding example of modern bilateral cultural contacts. The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission expressed gratitude for assistance in the organization of the expo to well-known opera singer Arkady Volodos (a Frenchman with the Belarusian roots) and his spouse, artist Anne-Marie Volodos, who were present at the event. Two works of this famous French artist are on display as well.
Head of the National Center of Contemporary Arts Natalya Sharangovich said that the exhibition is a spectacular event in the country’s cultural life and is aimed at strengthening cultural contacts between Belarus and France.
The exposition, which is running through 22 December, features the works of 15 famous modern French artists, and also 11 Belarusian painters and sculptors who took part in the French prestigious expo Art en Capital in Paris’ Grand Palais in 2015.
A total of 30 artworks have been brought from different French art salons united in the Art en Capital in the Grand Palais.
The international exhibition has been organized in cooperation with the Belarusian embassy in France and the National Center of Contemporary Arts.
