MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – Algeria is determined to intensify economic cooperation with Belarus, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdelkader Messahel said as he met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 20 February, BelTA has learned.
According to the Algerian minister, the level of political relations between Belarus and Algeria is high. The potential of economic cooperation, however, is still largely untapped. “The goal of my visit is to establish economic relations between the countries and make them more intensive,” the diplomat said.
Algeria’s minister of foreign affairs noted that earlier the two countries signed an agreement to set up a joint committee on development of cooperation. “We certainly will need some kind of a legal instrument which will provide the necessary framework for our cooperation. This agreement will allow the two countries to develop all-round economic interaction,” Abdelkader Messahel said.
