MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – The relations between Belarus and Turkey have been strengthening on the basis of mutual respect, Turkish First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Yildiz said at a function to mark 25 years of the Belarusian-Turkish diplomatic relations, BelTA has learned.
The Turkish official noted that letters of greetings on the occasion of the anniversary have been exchanged between the presidents of the two states, prime ministers, speakers of the parliaments and the ministers of foreign affairs.
He also stressed the importance of the ministerial political consultations recently held between Belarus and Turkey.
“Over the 25 years the Belarusian-Turkish relations have gained great momentum and become stronger on the basis of mutual respect. Our bilateral relations are free from any problems,” Ahmet Yildiz said.
The Turkish first deputy minister of foreign affairs emphasized the importance of the agreements reached during the visit of the Turkish leader to Minsk in November 2016. The forum held as part of the visit demonstrated the mutual interest in strengthening contacts in different areas.
Ahmet Yildiz stated that amid the current complicated situation Turkey continues attaching great attention to providing humanitarian aid and views the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Syria and the fight against terrorism among its priorities.
