MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) - Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang visited the National Art Museum of Belarus, BelTA informs.
The Chinese guest familiarized himself with the exposition of Russian art, the exhibition of sculptures, paintings and graphic art of famous Belarusian artist Sergei Selikhanov dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the artist. The excursion of Zhang Dejiang was hosted by the artist’s grandson, sculptor Konstantin Selikhanov. The exhibition featured memorial sculptures connected with famous people and historical events. In particular, the exposition included a design of Sergei Selikhanov’s most famous monument Invincible Man in Khatyn. The second part of the exposition includes genre sculptures, the so-called Chinese series which was created after Sergei Selikhanov’s trip to China in 1956. Plans have been made to display this exposition at the National Art Museum of Beijing in autumn. It will also include the works of Konstantin Selikhanov and demonstrate the continuity of traditions in Belarusian art.
Zhang Dejiang also familiarized himself with part of the collection of Chinese art from the funds of the National Art Museum of Belarus. This collection includes about 500 exhibits.
