MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Young people from Belarus and Cuba are interested in expanding cooperation, BelTA learned from coordinator of international youth cooperation at the BRSM Central Committee Olesya Sazankova.
“First Secretary of the BRSM Central Committee Dmitry Voronyuk met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Juan Valdes Figueroa and Councilor of the Cuban embassy Saturnino Juan de la Grana Enriquez at the House of the Youth. They discussed issues related to cooperation, information exchange, participation in joint events and contacts between the youth of the two countries,” Olesya Sazankova said.
The BRSM Youth Union told the Cuban diplomats about youth projects implemented in Belarus and international contacts of the youth union. The Cuban ambassador emphasized the importance and great prospects of cooperation between youth organizations of the two countries. “He invited Belarusian young people to take part in two key projects. One of them is the 18th European Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba that will take place in Bohinj, Slovenia. The congress is arranged by the Slovenia-Cuba Friendship Association. They also invited Belarusians to join the 62nd Nordic Brigade at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp,” Olesya Sazankova said.
“In turn, we will invite representatives of the Cuban Embassy in Belarus to attend our events as guests of honor. We will seriously consider cooperation between student brigades. Apart from that, the Student of the Year contest will become international next year and we will invite Cuban students to take part in our project,” Olesya Sazankova said.
