MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – On 7-8 January Italy’s Cagliari will host a number of events to mark the Year of Belarusian Culture in Sardinia, BelTA learned from Belarus’ Honorary Consul in Cagliari Giuseppe Carboni.
On 7 January Massimo Theater will present A Show of Sand Paintings by Belarusian artist Yuri Ptashinsky. Soloist of the Brest Oblast Philharmonic Hall Zhanna Verso will perform together with Rhapsody ensemble at Auditorium Comunale Theater on 8 January. “We can say that the Brest Philharmonic Hall will be a great Christmas present, taking into account a large Russian-speaking diaspora living on the Italian island of Sardinia,” the consulate said.
Events to celebrate the Belarusian culture will be held in Sardinia throughout 2017. These will include meetings with Belarusian writers, concerts of the Ragneda folk band, photography and arts and crafts exhibitions, the performance of the Belarusian choir at the international music festival Collegium Kalaritanum and the Belarusian folk band at the international folk festival of Sardinia, the screenings of Belarusian films.
A Belarusian musicologist will give the bagpipe restored using an original technology to Sardinian Museum of Musical Instruments while the Italian masters will give several ancient Sardinian woodwind instruments to Belarus. This unique event has been organized with the assistance of the Universitet Kultury art gallery.
Minsk will traditionally host a series of events dedicated to the culture of this Italian region.
