MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) - The Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater of Belarus is touring China in November 2017, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Beijing.
The theater company led by art director of the theater Nikolai Pinigin has brought to China its interpretation of Anton Chekhov’s Chaika (Seagull). The play got the 2016 National Theater Award in the nomination Drama Theater's Best Play. The current tour is a result of cooperation between Belarusian artists and the Silk Road International League of Theaters founded by the Chinese authorities to expand creative contacts between the countries participating in the Silk Road initiative. Today the organization comprises more than 80 participants from 30 countries. The Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater is its honorary member.
The theater will tour four cities: Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Xiamen and Jinan. The play features Viktor Manayev, Zoya Belokhvostik, Pavel Kharlanchuk-Yuzhakov, Igor Denisov, and also young actors Andrei Drobysh, Valentina Gartsuyeva, Pavel Ostroukh, Ivan Kushnyaruk, and others.
The Yanka Kupala Theater toured China in 2014, bringing its plays Wedding and Not Mine to the Spring Festival of Beijing’s People’s Art Theater.
