WTA rankings: Sabalenka back to No.1

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has returned to world number one in the WTA rankings, BelTA has learned.

The world’s best tennis players were not in action last week. Aryna Sabalenka, however, rose back to No. 1, leaving Poland’s Iga Swiatek 41 points behind. The Belarusian first topped the WTA rankings in September 2023. The two world’s best tennis players may face each other at the WTA final tournament which  is due to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in early November. Victoria Azarenka of Belarus is 21st in the WTA rankings and Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich goes 143rd.

WTA Top Ten:

1. Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) – 9,706 points;
2. Iga Swiatek (Poland) – 9,665;
3. Coco Gauff (USA) – 5,963; 
4. Jessica Pegula (USA) – 5,785;
5. Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) – 5,471; 
6. Jasmine Paolini (Italy) – 5,144;
7. Qinwen Zheng (China) – 4,480;
8. Emma Navarro (USA) – 3,698;
9. Daria Kasatkina (Russia) – 3,500; 
10. Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) – 3,194.

Jannik Sinner of Italy tops the ATP rankings. Carlos Alcaraz of Spain goes second. Alexander Zverev of Germany is third. Egor Gerasimov of Belarus goes 336th.

2. Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) – 7,120;
3. Alexander Zverev (Germany) – 6,795;
4. Novak Djokovic (Serbia) – 6,210;
