MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – World sport stars, namely 14 Olympic and world champions from seven countries, invited amateurs of a healthy lifestyle to take part in the Minsk Polo Marathon 2015 which is due to take place on 13 September during a Viber conference in Minsk on 6 August, BelTA learnt from the organizers of the competitions.
In their video addresses the athletes invited their European counterparts and residents of the neighboring countries in foreign languages. A separate video has been made for every neighboring country.
The video addresses will be distributed with the help of different resources, including foreign media in order to attract as many participants in the marathon as possible. Participants of the Minsk Polo Marathon will be able to enter Belarus visa-free.
The video features such famous Belarusian athletes as Olympic aerials champion Alla Tsuper, European athletics champion Alina Talai, European champion, Olympic silver medalist in track and field Andrei Kravchenko, Olympic bronze medalist in biathlon Nadezhda Skardino, six-time winner of the Champions Handball League Sergei Rutenko, head coach of the Belarusian national football team Alexander Khatskevich and a member of the Belarus football national team Alexander Hleb, a winner of the world and European rhythmic gymnastics championships Melita Stanyuta.
The videos were also recorded by famous foreign athletes: biathlon Olympic champion Valetina Semerenko from Ukraine, two-time Olympic champion in discuss throwing Virgilijus Alekna of Lithuania, Olympic champion in handball Nikola Karabatic of France, European champion, Olympic bronze medalist in basketball Andrei Kirilenko from Russia, many-time winner of the ultramarathon The Comrades Marathon Vladimir Kotov from South Africa and a repeated winner of the New York Marathon Yelena Prokopchuk from Latvia.
It is expected that thousands of the Belarusians and guests from around the world will compete in the 5, 10 and 21.1km at the Minsk Polo Marathon 2015.
