VITEBSK, 10 April (BelTA) - Experts of the World Health Organization mission got familiar with the work of three healthcare institutions in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.
The WHO representatives chose the institutions to visit. Those were a first aid station, regional infectious hospital and the city's Emergency Medical Clinical Hospital, which has patients with pneumonia and coronavirus infection.
“Experts examined how the staff work, visited the division with contact patients and those who have confirmed coronavirus infection. They had no remarks or complaints. They received detailed answers to all questions,” Mikhail Vishnevetsky, the head of the healthcare directorate at the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee told the media.
The WHO delegation met with senior officials of Vitebsk Oblast and Chairman of the State Control Committee Leonid Anfimov. The experts talked with specialists of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health and Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Vitebsk State Medical University Valery Semenov. Under his leadership, a team of researchers has developed a test system to identify COVID-19.
The WHO mission arrived in Belarus on 7 April. It will issue preliminary findings on the situation with COVID-19 in the country on 11 April.
