MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – The Webometrics global university rankings analysis has revealed the biggest climber among Belarusian higher learning institutions, BelTA learned from the press service of the Education Ministry.
Webometrics has had their first update in six months. “The Top 5 of Belarusian universities has remained unchanged, but Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) has displayed the biggest quality growth, with its rankings improving by 179 points,” remarked the press service.
The Education Ministry named the five leading Belarusian universities. Belarusian State University holds the top spot with the 763rd position on the Webometrics ranking list. It is followed by BNTU (2,536th), the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno (3,326th) and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (3,719th). The fifth place went to Francisk Skorina Gomel State University (3758th).
The Webometrics rankings are compiled by the independent Spanish research laboratory Laboratorio de Internet and get annual updates in January and July. The Internet presence of the university and the popularity of its scientific publications play a crucial role in assessing its performance. The Webometrics rankings rate virtually all higher education institutions in the world, the number of which exceeds 28,600.
