MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - Aliaksei Vishneuski’s crew of MAZ-SPORTauto Team placed fourth in Stage 8 of Dakar Rally 2021. The event is taking place in Saudi Arabia, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian crew covered 709km in 3:27.34, 7.54 behind the winner, Anton Shibalov of Russia’s KAMAZ-Master. Shibalov's teammates Andrei Karginov (2.19 back) and Dmitry Sotnikov (2.28 back) placed second and third respectively.
Dmitry Sotnikov holds the lead in the general classification (32:34.18). Russia’s Anton Shibalov is second, 43:28 back. Third is Russia’s Airat Mardeev, 1:13.15 behind the leader.
The Belarusian crew piloted by Aliaksei Vishneuski is sixth.
The Belarusian crew piloted by MAZ-SPORTauto leader Siarhei Viazovich was out of the Dakar 2021 competition after Stage 5 due to the problems with the gearbox.
