Visa-free travels in Grodno in spotlight during tourism expo in Warsaw

GRODNO, 16 November (BelTA) – Opportunities for visiting Grodno without visas will be presented during the international tourism expo TT Warsaw 2016 on 24-26 November, representatives of the Sport and Tourism Office of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA.

A common stand has been prepared to highlight how tourists can visit the Augustow Canal Park and the surrounding territory without visas for a period of five days. Belarusian travel agencies will present their own stands. The potential of healthcare tourism in Grodno Oblast with a focus on sanatoriums in the visa-free zone will be presented as well.

Visitors will be invited to buy tourism products at attractive prices and to register in order to visit Grodno Oblast without visas.

BelTA has been told that the Grodno city administration and the local travel agencies are working hard to raise the awareness about tourism opportunities in the region, including the ability of citizens of eighty countries to enter and stay in certain areas in Grodno Oblast without visas for five days. The awareness-raising efforts rely on expos, cooperation with chambers of commerce and industry, foreign travel agencies and information centers, consulates and embassies.

In the two and a half weeks since visa-free entry to the Augustow Canal Park and the nearby territories (Grodno and some populated localities in Grodno District) became available, the opportunity has attracted over 315 tourists from eight countries. Most of them are guests from Poland and Lithuania.

TT Warsaw is a major tourism industry expo in Poland, one of the most important international events of the tourism industry. Representatives of about 50 countries are expected to participate in the expo.
