MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Viktor Lukashenko has met with Belarusian athletes at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee.
The Belarusian delegation led by First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko met with the Belarusian athletes, who are taking part in the 3rd Winter Youth Olympics, in the Athletes’ Village.
At present, Vortex Center is hosting a team of skiers.
Young athletes and volunteers of the Belarusian team told the representatives of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee about living conditions, catering and medical services in the center which was built ahead of the games.
The Belarusian delegation also got familiar with some sports facilities of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympics.
The Lausanne Skating Arena played host to medal events in short track. Together with the Belarusian delegation the competitions were attended by two-time Olympic champion in athletics, member of the International Olympic Committee Valery Borzov.
In Vaudoise Arena the Belarusian delegation watched a confident victory of the Russian ice hockey team over Denmark, 9-0.
During a visit to the sports facilities of the Youth Olympic Games Viktor Lukashenko praised a well-developed sports infrastructure of the city. In his words, the organizers of the Games created a great sports and festive atmosphere for the best young athletes from around the world.
