MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – Belarusian wrestler Veronika Ivanova won bronze at the 1st European Games in Baku. The Belarusian claimed the medal defeating Giedre Blekaityte of Lithuania in the 60kg category event, BelTA informs.
The women’s 60kg gold was clinched by Hungary’s Marianna Sastin who beat Russia’s Svetlana Lipatova in the final. Another bronze went to Taybe Yusein of Bulgaria.
Veronika Ivanova was the only Belarusian female to reach the medal event despite a defeat from Svetlana Lipatova (1-4) in the quarterfinal. The Russian wrestler advanced to the final and gave the Belarusian a chance to win bronze.
