VITEBSK, 4 December (BelTA) – The festival of national cultures in Verkhnedvinsk will bring together participants from Belarus, Russia and Latvia, BelTA learned from the Vitebsk Oblast Folk Art Center.
The festival will take place on 7 December. It will be a regional selection round for the 13th Festival of National Cultures due in Grodno in June 2020. The program of the festival features presentations of national cuisines, master classes in cooking national dishes, expositions of folk arts and crafts, as well as a concert where individual performers and groups will present their national music, songs and literary works in the native tongue.
About 200 people are to take part in these events. These are representatives of diasporas living in Vitebsk Oblast, including Armenians, Ukrainians, Russians, Mordovians, Uzbeks, Kazakhs, Tajiks, Poles, Jews, and Bashkirs. Delegations from Russia and Latvia will also take part in the festival.
The festival of national cultures has been held in Vitebsk Oblast since 2001. It was previously hosted by Miory and Vitebsk.
The festival is organized by the Culture Department of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, the Vitebsk Oblast Folk Art Center and the Verkhnedvinsk District Executive Committee.
