MINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – Vanessa Kolodinskaya of Belarus clinched gold at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships in Paris, France, BelTA informs.
In the women’s -53kg event the Belarusian defeated Iulia Leorda of Moldova, Maria Prevolaraki of Greece, Estera Dobre of Romania and Mayu Mukaida of Japan to claim the champion title.
This season Vanessa Kolodinskaya finished first at the European Wrestling Championships in Serbia. She also holds the champion title of the 2012 World Wrestling Championships.
The Belarusian has brought the first gold to her country at the current sport forum. Belarus has so far won four medals in Paris. Greco-Roman wrestler Radik Kuliyev claimed the men’s 80kg silver. Vasilisa Marzalyuk also won silver in the women’s 75kg event. The women’s 55kg bronze was collected by Irina Kurochkina.
Violetta Chirik was close to grab bronze but lost to Evin Demirhan of Turkey in the repechage.
