Valery Todorovsky mulls over joint film project with Belarusfilm

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) - Joint film projects with the Belarusfilm movie studio are possible, Russian film director, screenwriter, producer Valery Todorovsky told the media as he visited the studio that underwent major renovations on 31 January, BelTA has learned.

The producer was impressed with the changes that the studio underwent. Valery Todorovsky shot such movies as Stilyagi, Ottepel and others in Minsk. According to him, the studio’s pavilions are now well-equipped, comfortable. But the atmosphere is also important, he said. It is important that the renovated studio burst with life and thrive and this will happen with the arrival of young producers, the Russian producer believes.

Valery Todorovsky informed that he discussed the implementation of some projects during meetings with Belarus’ culture minister and the director of the studio on 31 January. The director did not exclude a joint movie project with Belarusfilm.

Belarusfilm’s Director General Igor Porshnev added that a proposal has been made to organize refresher courses for young professionals, to invite guest lectures, and give master classes.

Speaking about the plans of Belarusfilm, Igor Porshnev noted that the studio can produce six movies per year using one pavilion. The studio has five of them and wants to have them all engaged. Currently they are being used to prepare the show of Ani Lorak. Later on the studio expects Timur Bekmambetov. There is an interest in the studio on the part of Lithuanian colleagues who are planning to involve the film industries of the Scandinavian countries. Igor Porshnev noted that it is important to participate in the international co-production projects, and this is something the studio will be working on.
