MINSK, 6 November (BelTA) – People’s Artist of Russia Vadim Abdrashitov has been honored with a special prize of the Belarusian President for the preservation and promotion of spirituality traditions in cinema. The award was presented at the opening ceremony of the 22nd Minsk International Film Festival Listapad on 6 November, BelTA has learned.
The special prize was presented by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Natalya Kochanova. The vice premier congratulated the festival’s participants on the opening of the forum and read out the message of greetings from the President of Belarus.
The People’s Artist of Russia, in turn, said that this award is a great honor for him. Vadim Abdrashitov noted that it is a pleasure for him to receive the award in Belarus because his career and life are closely connected with Minsk, the city which, in his words, has changed a lot in recent years. “The festival is great. This is a European festival in the best sense of the word,” the Russian director who heads the feature film jury at the 2015 film festival believes.
Vadim Abdrashitov graduated from the All-Russian Institute of Cinematography in 1974. He received numerous prestigious awards at the film festivals in Venice, Berlin, Locarno, etc.
