GOMEL, 5 June (BelTA) – The Union State student sports festival kicked off in Belarus’ Zhlobin on 5 June, BelTA learned from the sports and tourism department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

The festival will feature competitions in athletics, volleyball and futsal on 5-10 June. Taking part in the competitions will be 192 students representing 21 universities of Belarus and Russia.

The official opening ceremony will be attended by representatives of the Union State Standing Committee, the sports ministries of Belarus and Russia, Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and Zhlobin District Executive Committee.

The sports festival will also include a cultural and entertainment program for its participants.

The Union State student sports festival will be divided into four stages this year. The second stage will take place in Belarus’ Mogilev on 24-29 September, the third one in Russia’s Anapa on 1-6 October, and the fourth stage will be held in Russia’s Volgograd on 16-21 October.
