MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) - The UN Children's Fund and FC BATE will sign an one-year memorandum of cooperation in sport for development at Borisov Arena on 17 July, BelTA learned from the UNICEF Office in Belarus.
“The memorandum will consolidate the efforts of the organizations in promoting the child’s rights in Belarus, will contribute to the development of inclusion, socialization and re-socialization of the most vulnerable groups of children and young people through sport,” UNICEF Belarus noted.
Sport for development is a new area of work for UNICEF Belarus. It became a separate program activity in the run-up to the 2nd European Games in Belarus, UNICEF Belarus added.
Now UNICEF Belarus is implementing a number of joint projects with other sports organizations. Among the activities are children's races as part of the Minsk Half Marathon, a family football festival, a football tournament to assist re-socializing of children in conflict with the law and others.
