MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) - The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) will provide information support to the population census in Belarus which will be held in 2019, head of Belarus’ National Statistics Committee Inna Medvedeva told a press conference, BelTA has learned.
“We have reached such an agreement with the UNFPA but have not signed a memorandum yet,” Irina Medvedeva said.
The UNFPA will assist in the preparation of information materials ahead and after the 2019 census (publication of the statistical compilations, the launch of a website, etc.).
The National Statistics Committee has been closely cooperating with the World Bank as well. “There is an agreement that the World Bank will provide technical assistance to the state’s statistics bodies during the census 2019. We are also in talks to purchase tablets (no paper documents during the census 2019 ),” noted Inna Medvedeva.
“We are searching for sponsors to ease the burden of the census 2019 on the budget,” head of the National Statistics Committee said.
