MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – The grassroots project of the Belarusian Football Federation has been awarded at the ceremony of the Union of European Football Associations, the EUFA Awards, BelTA has learned.
Winners in the Grow program nominations aimed at promoting and developing football were named at the UEFA gala night held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Riga. In one of the most dynamically developing areas, grassroots football, the award went to the Belarusian Football Federation. The jury was delighted with Belarus’ initiative of family sport festivals. Belarus won among 27 applicants.
“Our initiative was hailed by the UEFA. Grassroots football is the foundation of football development. In recent years, we have been focused on working with people who are not involved in the number one game as professionals. Today we are happy not so much for the award, but for the number of families who joined the project,” Director of the Marketing and Communications Department of the Belarus Football Federation Yuri Sadovsky said.
