MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – Belarusian boxer Dmitry Asanov has won the Men's 60kg event at the EUBC U22 European Boxing Championships 2018 in Targu Jiu, Romania, BelTA informs.
The athlete from Molodechno beat Russia’s Albert Batyrgaziev by unanimous decision. In the second round, Dmitry Asanov threw several powerful punches which essentially decided the fight.
The Belarusian saw off the challenges of Necat Ekinci (Turkey) and Otar Naveriani (Georgia) to reach the final.
The gold medal at the U22 European Boxing Champions has become one of the most important trophies in Dmitry Asanov’s career. He earlier took 56kg silver at the 2015 European Games in Baku and 56kg bronze at the 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships.
