MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Belarusian swimmers Ilya Shimanovich and Pavel Sankovich won three medals on day one at the FINA Swimming World Cup in Doha, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Swimming Federation.
Ilya Shimanovich clocked 2:04.77 to claim silver in the men’s 200m breaststroke. Gold went to Kirill Prigoda of Russia with the time of 2:01.24. Third was his teammate Ilya Khomenko (2:05.08).
Ilya Shimanovich finished third in the men’s 50m breaststroke event in 26.24 seconds. Gold was collected by Cameron van der Burgh of South Africa who clocked 25.70 seconds. Touching in second was Russia’s Kirill Prigoda (25.85).
Pavel Sankovich of Belarus clinched silver in the men’s 100m medley event in 52.61 seconds. Vladimir Morozov of Russia clocked 51.38 seconds for gold. Tom Shields of the United States grabbed third-place honors in 53.21.
