MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – Social policy will be top on the agenda of the forum of Belarusian and Russian regions. Minsk and Mogilev will host major events of the forum on 8-9 June, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Anatoly Rusetsky said at the session of the organizing committee of the forum on 14 January, BelTA has learned.
“The preliminary date of the third forum of regions has been already harmonized with Russian colleagues. It is expected to take place in Minsk and Mogilev on 8-9 June. The plenary meeting is scheduled for 9 June. Social and humanitarian issues will be the main topics of the forum. The head of state announced this year the Year of Culture in Belarus, it will be also highlighted in the program of the event,” Anatoly Rusetsky noted.
The forum will include round tables and sections to discuss the cooperation of Belarus and Russia in science and education, youth policy, culture, the work of mass media. The forum of regional mass media, the Union State youth sports competition and other events will be held at the same time.
The traditional Belagro expo will be also held as part of the forum. “We would like to showcase Belarusian agricultural achievements and the whole range of related things at the expo. These include the social policy in rural areas, professional training,” Anatoly Rusetsky stressed.
The participants of the forum will also discuss a number of economic issues, in particular, the preparation of the joint import substitution program of Belarus and Russia, the harmonization of legislations of the two countries.
The previous forum of Belarusian and Russian regions was dedicated to the industrial policy. It took place in Sochi on 17-18 September 2015. The forum was attended by the presidents of the two countries. It brought together the representatives of more than 50 Russian regions and all regions of Belarus. The sides concluded over $250 million worth of contracts.
