Theater attendance at 692,700 in Belarus in 2020

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) -  In 2020, the overall theater attendance in Belarus was 692,700, BelTA learned from the Culture Ministry.

The most attended theaters were: National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater – 112,500 visits; Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater – 65,500; Yakub Kolas  National Academic Theater – 32,200; Mogilev Oblast Drama Theater – 30,600; Grodno Oblast Puppet Theater – 30,200.

At the end of 2020 there were 29 professional theaters in Belarus, including 20 drama and musical theaters, 8 children’s theaters,  1 opera and ballet theater. Theaters staged 1,065 plays, including: 161 new productions, 351 plays by Belarusian authors, 471 children's performances.

"Belarus hosts festivals, contests, art competitions, among them is the Slavic Theater Meetings in Gomel, Belaya Vezha, M@rt.contact in Mogilev, National Theater Awards," the Culture Ministry noted.
