The Match: Europe win mixed relay to claim victory in inaugural competition

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) - Europeans snatched the victory in the mixed relay just ahead of the finish line to clock 3:21.13, BelTA has learned.

Europe scored a total 724.5 points to win The Match over the United States (601.5 points).

The inaugural The Match athletics event between the teams of Europe and the United States took place at Dinamo Stadium in Minsk on 9-10 September. Taking part in the competition were more than 300 athletes. Fourteen Belarusians made part of Team Europe. High jumper Maksim Nedasekau and long jumper Nastassia Mironchyk-Ivanova won their events. Hammer thrower Hanna Malyshik and javelin thrower Tatsiana Khaladovich finished second.

The world’s best athletes will gather in Doha in late September for the 2019 IAAF World Championships.
