MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – The world premiere of the Territory of Peace documentary about Belarus, its history and modern life will take place on 9 October, BelTA learned from 8 Kanal (Channel Eight) Director Pyotr Chernomorets.
“The film has already been broadcast by our channel on 4 October. The War and Peace TV Channel will present the world premiere of the documentary on 9 October with a repeat on 10 October. Territory of Peace will also be aired on 8 Kanal on 9 October,” Pyotr Chernomorets said.
The War and Peace TV Channel is broadcast in the counties of the CIS, Europe, South Africa, in Canada, Brazil, and other states.
The idea to shoot the documentary was put forward by the Belarusian Information Minister. It is a joint work of Belarusian and Saint Petersburg filmmakers. Working on the 44-minute documentary were 8 Kanal, the Russian studio Corona Films, and the War and Peace TV Channel.
The film is not only about the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War, courage, and contribution of the Belarusian people to the defeat of the Nazis. It also tells about the modern life in the country and Belarus’ role in strengthening peace.
“I think the film is unusual. It is about the war, Khatyn, about peaceful Minsk. We spent some time working in the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings in Dzerzhinsk. We were shooting in Minsk, at Kurgan Slavy, in Khatyn, at the Stalin Line. Belarusians know what war is about. They want to preserve the historical memory and convey the importance of these values to all people of the world,” Pyotr Chernomorets explained.
He added that 8 Kanal, Corona Films and the War and Peace TV Channel have decided to continue working on the documentary and make a sequel. The creative group expects that the second part of the documentary will be finished by May 2016, and its premiere will be timed for the Victory Day.
