MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Specialists from ten countries will take part in the 5th international forum “Traditional culture as a strategic resource of sustainable development of the society” due in Mogilev on 24-28 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Culture Ministry.
The forum will be attended by scientists and specialists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, and China.
The event will start with a folk art festvial near the Mogilev Regional Methodological Center of Folk Art and Cultural Education on 25 April. The local artistic groups will demonstrate Mogilev’s folklore heritage: traditional dances and songs, folk-tunes, round dances and much more. The tradition of making straw spiders in Bykhov District, the element of intangible heritage, will be showcased during the event. In 2017 it was included in the list of historical and cultural values of Belarus in 2017. Specialists in decorative and applied art will show their works at a thematic exhibition and give master-classes.
The event will see exhibitions of the folk art festival “Treasures of Mogilev Oblast”, the regional contest-exhibition of the accessories and elements to traditional and stylized folk costumes “The world of shapes and color”, the regional competition “Belarusian doll in the regional system”, the regional contest for the best men and women headwear of the Mogilev region in traditional and modern styles. The event will feature a catwalk show of Belarusian traditional regional costumes which will be followed by the international conference “Folk costume as an element of historical heritage in modern culture”.
The program also includes the festival “Treasures of Mogilev Oblast” that will include the thematic theatrical expositions of Belarusian celebrations and rites: “Winter celebrations”, “Spring celebrations”, “Summer celebrations”, “Autumn celebrations”. The expositions will showcase the regional cuisine, folk playing programs, elements of rites, thematic performances of groups and singers.
The participants will also attend a theatrical folklore performance “The circle of life” (a gala concert of the winners of the regional festival of folklore art).
The forum aims to develop and strengthen international cultural relations, to share cultural values, to exchange the experience of preserving the intangible cultural heritage, to promote the best traditions and achievements of the national and world culture and art.
The organizers of the international forum are the Belarusian Culture Ministry, Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee, Mogilev Regional Methodological Center of Folk Art and Cultural Education.
