MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – The top priorities for Belarusians are health, parents and children, while career aspirations and high social status come last, according to a new sociological survey conducted by the analytical center EcooM, BelTA learned.
EcooM conducted the sociological survey at the request of the Belarusian Information Ministry in January 2024. A total of 1,240 residents were interviewed in all Belarusian regions. The margin of error does not exceed 2.5%.
When asked "What are your values in life?", the majority named health, their parents, children, comfort and inner peace. Financial security ranked only fifth. Having a spouse or a partner rounded up the top six.
Belarusians listed career aspirations, high social status and power as the least important aspects of their life. The ability to influence others came last. At the same time the poll results indicate that the answer "To have power, the ability to influence other people" was only two points behind the health on a five-point scale.
"Such a pattern is observed in many countries lately due to the COVID restrictions which were much more flexible and softer in Belarus. Still, it definitely led to people paying more attention to their own health," EcooM stressed.
Sociologists also noted the citizens’ interest in improving professionalism, having interesting job and contributing to society with their work. The relevance of work and prosperity keeps growing.
